Tips For Writing a Resume

Tips For Writing a ResumeIf you are seeking to improve your chances in job applications, creating a resume that is designed to get hired will give you a huge advantage. An Enneagram 9 resume will not only give you an edge, but it will also make you more employable and confident in your ability to perform the job you have applied for. This is important to consider if you are currently in this predicament. The things to keep in mind when you are crafting your resume are: what are the main qualities of your personality and how can you be integrated into the position. You want to make sure that your skills, interests, and experiences are all included in your resume. Then the reader should be able to easily see where you would benefit from learning more about the particular position or field you are applying for. The points in your resume should not be overdone, but also not too little either. An Enneagram 9 resume should start with a definite objective and short description of the type of work you have done in the past. In order to be properly written, it is important to use adjectives instead of prepositions and pronouns. It is best to always include at least three positive words that describe you in each position and pay attention to each word that you include. If you have not had experience with a particular job, you can use 'have not' instead of 'have not'. For instance, you may wish to include 'have been employed as a nursing assistant for five years, and as a nursing assistant for six years, and currently as a nursing assistant' rather than 'have been employed as a nursing assistant for five years, and for six years as a nursing assistant'.Then you need to relate the job position and job descriptions to your personal life and your career goals. You want to be honest and to the point. For example, you could say 'As a nursing assistant, I strive to be an independent professional caring for my patients. 'When filling out a resume, it is important to emphasize your strengths as well as the skills you possess that help you meet the most important needs of those who contact you. For example, you could add, 'Working with a variety of ages, gender, race, and sizes, I provide support and compassionate care that contribute to the overall care of my patients.'Writing a resume should always be concise. In order to accomplish this, you want to have a clear purpose for your resume. You should be able to clearly articulate what the specific objective of your application is, what you hope to gain from it, and how you can achieve this goal. If you have not received an interview, you should be able to explain why this is so in your resume. In addition to outlining your position, your skills, and your experience in this particular job, you need to highlight your talents and accomplishments in detail. Here is where you can also write about any awards or recognition you may have received. You can also take part in a writing contest or other literature to make yourself stand out from the competition. Anything you are known for in life, write about it in your resume. Finally, remember to have a good description of your skills and experience relating to the particular job you are applying for. Your resume should tell the employer what your skills are that would benefit them in that particular job, and what they can expect of you in that specific job. In many cases, employers will seek you out for a specific reason. You don't want to write a resume that is not tailored to the job, you want it to be tailored to them. This type of resume will help you greatly when you are looking for a job. You can use this as an example and modify it to fit your specific situation. This will help you make the most of your time and money and be employed by the organization you want to be working for.

Serif And Sans Serif Fonts Are Most Recommended There are two textual style families that selection representatives and HR chiefs appear to like the most: Serif and Sans Serif. The Serif text style family implies the textual styles have tails; and Sans Serif implies they are feeling the loss of the tails on the parts of the bargains. Well known text style types in the Serif family incorporate Georgia and Times New Romanâ€"while mainstream Sans Serif textual styles incorporate Verdana and Arial. Top 5 Tips For Giving Feedback To A Candidate Who Didnt Get The Job

Top 5 Tips For Giving Feedback To A Candidate Who Didnt Get The Job Picture the scene: you interview a number of candidates for your vacancy and while theyre all good, in this instance you can only give the role to one of them. After youve delivered the good news to the lucky candidate, its time to deliver the bad news to the unlucky few. While most of them are polite and say thanks, theres one candidate who says thanks but asks for some feedback on their application and interview. While it can be easy to panic at this point and start fumbling around for an answer, its important to stay focused and keep calm because anything you say at this point could directly affect the candidates next application and career later down the line. So what do you do? Well, here are our top five tips on giving that all important feedback. 1. Dont Try Get Out Of It: When a candidate asks for feedback, the worst thing you can do is put it off or try and get it out of it. Why? Because its just not fair and it can paint you in a really bad light. Whats more, if the candidate is really determined, they could keep bugging you and bugging you until you give them some kind of feedback not ideal if youve got a busy business to run! 2. Be Prepared: Following or even during your interview with potential candidates, its highly likely that you made some kind of notes and/or had a discussion about the candidate with another colleague after theyd left the room. Comments made in this discussion could include their performance during interview, their CV and their overall presentation so be sure to quickly jot these down if theyre made in an informal discussion. When youre delivering bad news to candidates always try and have these notes to hand so youre not left erm-ing and ah-ing when a candidate enquires about feedback. 3. Be Honest: No one likes delivering bad news which is why it can be easy to sugarcoat negative feedback but its important to try and be as honest and objective as possible for a couple of reasons. Firstly, as I said earlier, the comments you make now could directly affect the candidates next career move so lying could be really detrimental. And secondly, sugarcoating feedback might give the candidate false hope about a position within your company eg. they might think they were really close to securing the job when in reality they were miles away. This false hope could lead to them applying for every job within your company, even though you personally know theyre just not the right fit. 4. Be Constructive: While its important to be honest, its also important to try and be constructive with any feedback you give. Rather than just pointing out the candidates mistakes and shortcomings, tell them what they did well and what they did to impress you. When you do deliver negative feedback, be sure to try and make it constructive and tell the candidate what they could have done differently and what other experience and skills theyd have needed on their CV to get the job in other words, try and explain what the candidate that you hired had that they didnt. 5. Keep it Nice Concise: While keeping your feedback honest and constructive, its also important to keep it nice and concise otherwise you could end up speaking to the candidate for hours about everything they did right and wrong. Have a clear list of things you want to feed back to the candidate- and try and answer any sensible questions the candidate has honestly but keep an eye on the time. 20-30  minutes is a good amount of time to allocate to feedback and should give you plenty of time to share all your points and give the candidate constructive things to think about.

Pamela Slims Body Of Work A New Perspective On Your Career

Pamela Slim’s ‘Body Of Work’ A New Perspective On Your Career Book Reviews Pamela Slim’s ‘Body Of Work’: A New Perspective On Your Career By Natasha Stanley * The world of work is changing, and there are hundreds of career change books out there professing to give you the tools and techniques necessary to navigate it. But what’strulynecessary to operate effectively in a shifting career landscape is a new perspective on what a career is, and what it can be. Pamela Slim’s ‘Body of Work’ gives you exactly that, in a fresh, down-to-earth and accessible way. I started excitedly nodding as soon as I started reading Pamela Slim’s ‘Body Of Work’. Her approach to her subject is like hitting the Zoom-Out button on the contemporary career landscape, and then zooming right in on the day-to-day tools required to navigate it. The result is a well-grounded argument for a new career paradigm, coupled with solid, practical and empathetic advice for employees, freelancers, business owners and corporations alike. Slim explains that historically, a conventional career was vertical and constrictive. You entered a line of work and the only way to move was vertically. If you didn’t progress upward, you were failing, and a sideways move represented a failure. In contrast, your body of work is a broad and complex story â€" an ever-evolving celebration of something that matters to you, and that you’re uniquely placed to support: ‘Your body of work is everything you create, contribute, affect, and impact. For individuals, it is the personal legacy you leave at the end of your life, including all the tangible and intangible things you have created… A body of work is big and deep and complex. It allows you to experiment and play and change and test.’ Slim argues that a ‘body of work’ is not just the most effective way to view your career in today’s work landscape, it’s the best and most flexible way to navigate the process of a developing career. It’s flexible, it’s grounded deep in the nuts and bolts of what makes you unique and valuable, and it focuses on the long game rather than the short gain, which liberates you from the angst attached to having to make the ‘right move, right now’. What's particularly impressive is the fact that Slim's ideas around creating a body of work apply to people and businesses of all types and stages; employees, startups, freelancers and even corporations, making them useful for anyone who picks up the book. 'Body of Work' outlines the eight specific steps involved in creating a body of work, which encompass both discovering pre-existing themes in your career and wider life, and envisioning and creating your impact on the world in the future. Chapters such as ‘Define Your Root’, ‘Choose Your Work Mode’, and ‘Surf The Fear’ are each dedicated to one of Slim’s eight steps, delving deep into the questions that will help you create your personal body of work. Slim anchors her arguments in real-life stories from her own career and those of people she's met along her way (ranging from bestselling authors and musicians to stay-at-home mothers), and regularly references websites, tools and other books to help readers make the most of her ideas. It's this beautiful balance between big concepts and small actions that makes 'Body of Work' such a comprehensive pleasure to read. The exercises offered within each chapter are broad and challenging. Some people may find the questions she asks us to consider ('What do you want to create'? 'Who do you want to help'? What drives you to act'?) too big to grapple with without further guidance, especially if you're at a total loss for what to do next with your career. However, whether or not you can articluate clear answers to them right now, questions such as these are important to consider for any career changer, and clearly offer compelling food for thought. Top Takeaways Recognise that you are the sole agent of your career Where there used to be a clearly-defined career ladder to climb, it’s becoming increasingly unusual for people to stay in one job for more than a few years at a time. When you also consider that more and more companies are moving online and making use of global talent pools, it becomes clear that as a worker, you’re more and more on your own. It’s time to start relying on more than your CV. “No one is looking out for your career any more. You must find meaning, locate opportunities, sell yourself, and plan for failure, calamity, and unexpected disasters. The new world of work requires a new lens and skill set to ensure career success.” Broaden your conception of what you’re here to do A ‘body of work’ encompasses anything and everything that you do in aid of the cause you’ve chosen to serve. By creating a body of work, you open up a previously unheard-of level of possibility and freedom: “It will give you more freedom and clarity to choose different work options throughout your life, and you’ll be able to connect your diverse accomplishments, sell your story, and continually reinvent and relaunch your brand. You won’t have to say things like: ‘I am throwing away ten years of studying and practicing law if I start a yoga studio’” Define success on your own terms Your body of work is self-defined and self-created. As such, your definition of success must also come from within. Be very clear about what success looks like to you, and be conscious of ‘success dysmorphia’ creeping in and making you question your path: “Success dysmorphia is viewing your success through someone else’s results and finding yourself feeling awkward, ugly, less then, and not quite on par with their accomplishments” If your conception of success is aligned with your roots and your values, you’re on the right track. Tell the right stories Your body of work is defined by how you articulate your purpose in the world, and then by what steps you take to support it. How you talk about yourself (and to yourself) about what you do and why you do it is a major part of who you are, and therefore of your personal brand. Become conscious of the stories you tell. “Every day, I see people with similar backgrounds and equivalent skills accomplish radically different results. One big reason for this is the story they tell themselves and others on a daily basis. The quality of your life is directly related to the quality of your stories. You must craft them well.”
